i have a 95 honda prelude si H22a (swap)w/h23 tranny. BONE STOCK. k so the other day i was racin someone and i noticed my speed was not working so after the race i came to a complete stop and then started to go again my speedo started working then. so the problem is that after vtec engages or at high rpms my speedo will stop working but then after coming to a complete stop or shutting off the car the speedo works fine.

Change your VSS (vehicle speed sensor) and let us know. It could be that or not, but lets get rid of the obvious first.
Oh and I like your reason for editing...made me laugh.

thanks i figured the VSS, just wanted a second oppinion. i ordered the part at my work today so ill get it tomorrow, and change it and let you know but check this out heres an update..........so now my speedo will work until i hit 30mph, then it will drop to zero. Also my CEL does not always come on, just after i drive the car for a period of time does it come on. and in addition to that my car just overall feels "weak". vtec is not as loud as it use to be you can not feel or hear it anymore, and when my car gets up past like 6500 RPMs the engine sounds and feels as if it is actually loosing power as it "slowly" climbs to 8 grand, and thats in second gear. i have a mechanic that usually works on my car but he is going through some person stuff so i was trying to tackle this one on my own.......

k so yesterday i changed my VSS, and no still the same problem. my speedo only works until i hit about 30MPH. And my vtec is still not working. so i did some research of my own and the only other thing i could find is that my ECU could be bad...........am i righ? but my question is, is my ECU bad or could it be a wiring problem?
