I own a 95 Prelude type S (H22A 2.2L). Recently, the odometer & trip meter stopped registering miles. I am driving without adding any miles on the vehicle... which is good... but my smog check is due soon. The speedo and RPM meter works fine.

So far, I've heard two things:
1. Change out speed sensor
2. Get a new gauge cluster

Has this happened to anybody and how can I fix this?

my money is on the speed sensor

 

is there a possibility that it could be something else? i just want to take precaution before i may have the wrong information...

 

if the speedo still works, it is a problem in the cluster.. if both the odometer and speedo quit working at the same time, then it's more likely to be the VSS.. VSS also will throw a check engine light
