Plently of people have had stock sleeves up to 600+whp with higher octane. I would say anything over 500+whp is when you would want to start thinking about sleeving.

500 is safest reliable whp on stock sleeves. more can be made but they wont last, as far as how long they will or will not last there is no standard, they crack when they crack

My setup last year with 1000 I.d. Injectors 93 octane 480hp stock sleeves. Motor is still running to this day in another vehicle no problems.

I cracked a sleeve at 465whp with my 81.5mm stock sleeve GSR after 5000 miles. I did beat the living **** out of it though.

Typically, 400-450 whp is fine. Ultimately, what one guy said is correct, "they will crack when they crack." All OEM parts from those engines are getting old, especially the late 1980s into the 90s. In the future, I plan on pushing mine a bit past 500, but "plan on pushing mine" isn't synonymous with "will work just fine." Tread at your own risk and be prepared if it fails.

my buddy is trying to build a 12 sec street car on a budget so a gsr and sleeveing is out of the question. And he is not a great driver so he is gonna need more power than most to run the same times
