Default WHP on stock cams and compression with tuning?

With the basic mods (intake and header) what kind of whp can you achieve on stock cams with NO head work or raised compression? Is a goal of 180whp unreasonable with just cam gear and VAFC tuning? Exactly how much whp can be gained with tuning on close to stock R's? I would like to see before and after dyno plots. Thanks in advance.

You can add a test pipe to maybe get 180.

200whp with raised compression.....

You'll need a good i/h/e combo though.

You can get 180whp without gears and a VAFC.

Hey,

George Knighton dynoed ~180whp with the Icebox, JDM 4-1, and 2.5" exhaust from SMSP.
I think he just changed his ignition timing.

I agree, don't Rs get around 165-175 WHP out of the box? I didn't see how much you were raising the compression, but I'd think 180 should be doable with relative ease. Then when you're ready for more you can get more aggressive cams...assuming you're staying NA.

Oops methinks I read that wrong...you said W/O raising compression...duh.

i have 170/120 on a usdm mugen header, short ram, and 2.25 catback. with a decent header, free flow cat, 2.5" catback, icebox, cam gears, VAFC, and tuning, i definately think 180whp is possible.

I belive 190+ is possible, with good tuning and a good header.

I did 181 at the wheels with JDM Mugen 4-1, Greddy PE exhaust, AEM cold air intake, VAFC and stock GSR ECU.

My ITR, 185whp 135lb-pds on a MD Dyno (Mustang Dyno)

Mods:
Mugen header 2.5"
Carsound cat 2.5"
Mugen exhaust modified
Icebox
Int. Cam gear set 2 deg advanced
Timing 18 deg

removed P/s and a/c

Stock cams, ecu, bottom end, and head

I believe with some tuning on a VAFC I can see 190+ whp with no problems.

I was able to make 182.8 hp and 127 ft-lbs on stock cams, stock compression. Had JDM 4-1 header, 2.5" exhaust, cam gears, V-AFC, AEM CAI and 18 degrees of timing...

Skunk2 stage 1's made that much power!!!

Did you upgrade the valevtrain too? What was the power like by just dropping in the cams?

For those of you tuning with stock cams/cam gears, what settings yielded the best results? Nate/typer1111 and I will both be trying to squeeze out what we can from the stock cams in our R's.

I'm thinking I could get about 10-12whp from where I am now with the addition of the mugen intake, vafc and cam gears. Any info any of you may have from your experience with the stock cams would be much appreciated....
