The quickest solution is probably to have an exhaust shop weld on a new muffler. They should be able to tell you about what decibel range you can expect with each of their mufflers on your setup. Converters don't make noise unless a part of it is broken and rattling. Even that is rare since they are usually just metal tubes with a honeycomb inside. I wouldn't worry about getting an actual Honda muffler like the si one.

2.75" on a stock motor? go back to 2.25", with a resonator and maybe a ws2 apexi exhaust. Those are super quiet and sounds nice. There is a difference in sound between a cat and no cat though

I would suggest buying a cheap ebay catback system 2.25", and a apexi ws2 exhaust and have a shop cut off the the ebay exhaust and replace it with your apexi ws2 exhaust. Therefore you get the ebay resonator, the mandrel bent piping with a apexi ws2 exhaust.

I have a D16 with 2.5" pipe straight back to a WS tip, it is SUPER quiet and I love how it has a low growl

its better than a custom crush bent piping that they do at the shop Ill tell you that.. besides the shop would still have to crush bend the unknown piece of tubing and modify it to your chasis. At least with the ebay brand its piece by piece and its mandrel bent instead of crush bent tubing.. besides your getting the ebay exhaust cut off anyways to replace with a apexi ws2 exhaust.

Your basically using the ebay for the piping, resonator, and the mandrel bends. Kinda like how people buy ebay turbo kits just for the piping and then they replace the turbo and intercooler etc.. and same for people who buy a ebay air intake just for the tubing. Then they usually replace the air filter with a K and N. Its your choice though.. just my suggestion.

ws2 muffler, ive ran them on both of my cars and it sounds amazing. my suggestion for your exhaust setup:

2.25 crush bent piping
magnaflow resonator
ws2 muffler

you wont regret it.

You can just get the si muffler like you said or you can get a 5zigen there pretty quiet and you can always put on the silencer

Get the biggest resonator you can find that is still high flow and get it put in. my exhaust is free flow all the way back. the muffler is a little more than a test pipe. you can see rite through it. but with that resonator it almost sound stock when idle and below 2000 rpm. only when i punch it does it growl and not like some fart can. very controlled and tolerable even at redline. i get complements on it all the time from all kinds of people telling me it does not sound like a ricer at all. you get a lot more respect when your car doesn't sound like it belongs to a 16 year old that chopped the muffler and cat and got a 2 1/2 inch pipe all the way back.

Oh and also if you get your exhaust redone. make sure there is a flex pipe in. trust me.

As far as exhausts go, you get what you pay for when it comes to the note.

Also, the more you pay for with your exhaust, the heavier it is and weight has a major effect on these cars. Stainless is especially heavy. The lightest exhausts I've had were all inexpensive mild steel.
