Default Stock ecu vs base map for dyno...

Hey guys..

I'm finally about to do some type of upgrade on my car which is to buy an s300, but I haven't done a base run yet on my current set up. I was originally planning on doing a base run with my p73 and than once I get my s300 tuned I could do another run to compare the differences. I know the difference would be small, but I would just like to know exactly where I was before. My mechanic told me that I should just install the s300 and I could do a base run dyno with a base map and then tune and re-dyno.

First question is should I go with my original idea? Second question is worst case scenario if I get a base map added to my ecu how long could I drive that around for?

I apologize if this is wordy or doesn't make complete sense, for I did another all nighter last night typing a paper for class.

Thanks for all your help in advance.

Instead of renting the dyno twice, simply go to the dyno & make a run on the stock ecu, then install the s300 & tune it to compare etc.
