Default h22 cam issue.

today i had a good friend look over my valve adjustment. while doing so he noticed something that was very displeasing. in my aftermarket cams (not mentioning no names) there was a very deep grove. now not to mention the car so just ran on idle due to it not being tuned. dont get tuned cuz we had to finish up the dual pumps. now i have a bigger headache in my hand.

so i was wondering does anyone know what could have cause this.

its a fully built h22 head using all ferrea valvetrain.

What kind of oil were you using? Have you used these rockers before? I have seen H22 rockers wear irregularly quite a few times.

Is it on all of the lobes or just a few?

Dirt on the rocker? Was the groove on the timing belt side? If so, how tight did you make the timing belt? Did you have oil pressure to the engine and verify on a gauge?

Just realized you didnt specify where the groove is... Is it in the cam journal or on a lobe? Lots of things cause valve train issues, be more specific!

ok. the cams were brand new. it had good oil pressure. its on a aem oil pressure guage. the timing belt wasnt crazy tight. it was stock rockers on a fresh fully built head. oil was castrol oil. the motor wasnt rev'd mainly on idle due to it not being tuned. the grove was on the exhaust cam lobe by the second piston.

Might be better to title the thread H22 cam issue instead of h2b. Since the trans has nothing at all to do with a cam problem.

Is it a groove or is the cam missing material where it contacts the rocker? Is it just on one lobe? Pics could help.

the others had minor markings on them thats why i figured in the future they might have the same issue.

king06: im thinking its a bad batch and the company take care of the problem.

but the questin is if its a bad batch why do i get stuck with the bill on labor and if any other items get damage due to the defect of the product.
