Make sure you pull the valve cover and spark plugsbefore installing your engine...
Cuz I was at a huge place place that sells engines out of Jersey. I wont mention any names, let's just say some of you might have bought from them. And I saw how these ***** were prepping people's engines that they sold through EBAY. Let me tell you, it was not what anyone would expect, I mean they had this one guy spraying a very powerful degreaser (I believe ZEP commercial grade) into the oil cap and using wire brush to scrub it clean. Also, they were washing the **** out of engines and trannies with a power wash, without covering up the intake or exhaust manifolds or blocking the main shaftseal or driveshaft seals. So, just make you check and check and check again before installing any engines or transmission from these so called importers. I might be wrong but I think they all do this to make a sale and to satisfy the eyes of their potential customers. Cuz keep in mind the engine or tanny is not going into their cars so they don't care, but your money goes into their pockets for a 30 day start up warranty and a blown engine or tranny.
Yeah, those 30 day start up warranties are BS. Especially since when you buy a swap, you might only be able to work on it here and there (weekends) or you may be waiting on other parts, like a clutch or whatever. You might not get that engine in the car for over a month. So another lesson to people is make sure you have all the "other parts" (timing belt, water pump, clutch, seals, etc.--Whatever you want to replace before installing then engine.) Make sure you have all of that stuff ready to go so you can drop the engine in the first weekend you have it. Most engine importers are not known for their great customer service...
If you don't take off the valve cover or drop the oil pan to inspect before installing an engine, you're sort of asking for problems. It just makes sense to inspect everything while the engine is still out of the car.

That's why I only buy from reputable engine dealers like HMO even if the price is high and it isn't local. Lesson learned.
