Default basemap question 99 ls

I just bought an obd-1 computer for my car, im ordering the harness from pherable.net eventually when i get another car this one will be turbo'd. question is, right now i have hondata im gasket, short ram intake, stock header, and a WS2 exhaust is on the way. Should i wait to buy the harness and chip kit until i get all my turbo parts, which might be awhile, or should i tell them what i have and have them make a basemap for the little mods my car has now? will the basemap give me any more power? how much if any should i expect?

You could PM him and see if he thinks it would be worthwhile to get a basemap now, but I would just wait. Its not really worth the extra money to gain 3-4whp if you plan to change it soon anyway.

With those Mods running your stock ecu is the best choice.

It depends on which ECU you have and what engine that corresponds to...the commonly used P28 is not for an LS

Oh...well my car is tuned on a P28 which i dont believe is for my car; however, once the new chip is in it, it doesn't matter what the original intent was. Good work getting the right one ahead of time i guess

What tuning system are you going to be using with the turbo?

Maybe you can get Phearable to install a chip with a basemap for your turbo, and you can just temporarily un-jumper the chip so that it runs on the normal ECU until you're ready for the turbo?

I'd just wait if I were you. With the mods that you currently have I doubt you will see any significant gains. Just wait until you start accumulating turbo parts or have a better idea of your setup then get a chip. Also with a stock ecu running off of a jumper harness you should be fine.

I forgot you were buying the ECU separately. You might as well just wait.

i already have the ecu, id just rather spend $75 on a harness to run the stock obd1 ECU and have no cel then the fix the second O2 sensor that I wont need when the car is turbo and has the obd 1 computer in it anyway.
