Remote start causing gauge cluster problems?
My gf bought a 2001 Civic a few months ago that already had an Auto Mate 552 remote installed in it by one of the previous owners. She has been having periodic issues with the entire gauge cluster going dead for a few minutes at a time. The cluster lights, digital odometer, speedometer, everything stops working.
I'm wondering if any of you have heard of issues with these clusters if someone taps into the wrong wire. I don't remember such issues from when I was an installer, but that was five years ago, and I haven't touched an alarm/remote start since.
Anything I should be looking for under the dash?

I'll have to do that. This sucks because I had to fix the cluster in my Ranger a few months ago.
She just told me that she called the Honda dealer a couple days ago and they told her it was probably the alternator. I don't see how that could be, but I'll take my volt meter to it and see what it looks like.

FYI, for anyone finding this thread in a search, it turned out to be the cluster going bad. Got a used cluster on ebay for 100 bucks shipped. Dealer told me it would be about 150 bucks to send the cluster in to Honda US and have the odo reflashed, but I didn't do it because the mileage on the replacement cluster turned out to have similar mileage.
