Default Suspension thumps!

My suspension is becoming sort of bad, those drive way lips each time I go over them I feel like the suspension thumps hard, and even on the road it feels pretty bad. I've tested my shocks with the push down test, and it doesn't bounce more then 3 times, it barely even bounces. I was thinking maybe I need to replace my control arms in the rear? The thump is louder in the back then the front.

I know I have one bad control arm & wheel bearing on the driver front, but I don't hear or feel nothing from that side specifically. A bad ball joint on the passenger right. That's about the only problems Honda dealership has told me about.

I recently had my end links changed front/back both.

Avio,

Are you sure it is suspension and not something in the else, I thought I have a bad strut turned out it was my cold air slapping around. (mount broke off the shock tower). Might help to put the car up on stands or a lift and see it there is any slack in the suspension.

What kind of slack in the suspension? I don't know what else it could be, unless my trunk is opening and closing or something of that sort. My car use to be a little smoother and comfortable then what it is now.

is your car lower? if so suspension travel might be excessive and reaching the bump stop causing your thumping

Hey Avio, lift your vehicle and support with stands, verify that your ball joints, bushings, tie rod ends, and any other pieces of your suspension components are of ok. Wiggle, jerk your wheels around, if something is wrong you'll hear or see it. In rare cases I have seen either the coil or shock absorber being bent and have that symptom. But I have also seen exhaust systems with broken hangers swing and hit underneath the car with really loud thumps. and last of all maybe your engine mounts are bad enough that your engine mount bracket is making contact with metal. Check out each one as I mention and you will find your problem, if not you will have eliminated quite a few things.

New engine mounts installed last year. Putting on new trans mounts in a week. I'm guessing it could be the bushings being worn out, I'll have the mechanic inspect those things when he puts on my rear brakes.

I also wanted to share that my car went into a pothole a few months ago, which caused a bubble in my tire. And both my front tires had inner tire wear, which I checked meant I needed alignment and I got it done, but the thumps didn't go away.

That's beyond a pothole if it cause your tires to bubble like that. Now I'm for certain that you bent or knock something out of spec. Post your (4 wheel alignment I hope) results up and will try to decipher your current suspension settings. Maybe we can pinpoint the problem even more.

Beside your rear toe-in being a little bit off, everything else looks good. Have your Springs and Absorbers check. Like I said I have seen them bent, and with your incident, the Absorbers might have been damage internally. If your willing to pulled the parts yourself, pm me and I will send you diagrams on your suspension components.

I can't pull the parts myself I don't have all the right tools needed or the skills required. I think it may be my trunk making the noise on the road cuz the road conditions are so shitty in schaumburg, il. I was shaking the trunk by hand, it definitely sounds like the noise may be coming from the trunk shaking when going over the road creases.

bad strut mounts? sometimes the rubber and mounts go bad.. and can cause a knock noise.. similiar to a bad motor mount noise..

get downa nd dirty and shake ur control arms and ball joints.. try to find exactly where its coming from..

if anything have ur girl drive while u are alongside listening and find the area where its coming from and have her take a speed bump or even the driveway lip and listen and if u dont kno names take pics and post.. plenty of us on here can tell u...
