Default Could it be my distributor?

Hi, I need help because today I was checking for spark through my new wires and cyl no. 4 shocked me and there were sparks all around the spark plug wire long tube, I was holding the screw driver from the rubber part just like I did with the others. I"m kind of worried because I've been having starting problems when I crank the car, sometimes the starter grinds and I have to crank it like 3 times and sometimes it will start right away, I took the starter to get tested and it's perfect, as well as my fuel supply, so could it be a bad distributor? My engine is a JDM H22 that came with rusty wires about 6 months ago which I just replaced and seemed to help the starting problem just a little.

If you can see sparks coming from the sides of your wires they are bad. New or not that wire is not shielding like it should be. Take them back. As for your starting issue, have you looked inside the distributor cap to see what condition the contacts and rotor button are in?

Yeah the cap is good, and I changed wires to see if that one was bad and same thing hapened, that's what I thought too at first but they all seem to be in good condition.

The high tension from the distributor has to pass thru the spark plug via the plug wire. You obviously have high voltage on the #4 wire but it doesn't seem to go all the way thru the plug. A bad plug?

Spark plugs seem to be fine as well, they all look the same, I'm going to get another distributor from a friend and see if that helps cuz you know how these jdm motors sit on warehouses for such a long time and if the wires were already rusting I believe the distributor is not in optimal condition, plus I started having problems starting the car after my jdm swap.
