I need help! My 95 GSR will not start. It gets power, but doesn't even try to turn over. Here
s what i tried

- removed and replaced gas cap
- cleaned battery terminals and connections
- tried to jump start
- reset computer
- checked fuses
- I replaced the dizzy not too long ago
- bypassed the ignition switch to start manually

i thought it could be the ignition switch because when i switch it to on, everything turns on as it should.. when i go to start it, nothing happens.. everything stays on and it doesnt even try to start???

does anyone have any ideas? I can hear the fuel pump when i turn the ignition on... i can also hear the clicks so i dont think its the relay..could it be the starter? where its at right now i cant really push start it

any help is greatly appreciated!

also, before i stopped for gas, i was low on gas and the light was on.. in case that helps.

 

ok, so i was able to push start the car.. so i guess it is the starter??

Take the starter to autozone and have them check it for free.

 

thanks, i just ordered one from Ebay.. any idea how hard it is to replace?

not hard to replace..only two bolts that hold it.

 

i know you've already ordered it but most jdm importers will sell working used ones for $50. a lower mile oem unit is vastly superior to the reman garbage you find on ebay

 

Yeah the starter is very easy to replace BE SURE TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY first lol then take the ground and hot wires off the it just unbolts right off

 

hmmm im havin the same issue... i guess a replacement starter is in order!

Found the problem!!

my car wouldn't start.. i checked all the usual stuff... battery, terminals, ecu, dizzy, fuel pump.. spark test, ignition, main realy, etc.. my car would start if it was push started..so, i thought it was my starter.. i ordered a new starter and haven't gotten around to installing it yet, when i saw another post on here about the CIS (clutch Interlock Switch)... i knew about the button on the break pedal for the tail lights, but not for the clutch.. so, i gave it a shot.. took a while to find it.... i reached under, pushed the button and my car started right up!!!

Anyone wanna buy a starter??. brand new never used!!

when you tried to start it did i seem like it wanted to turn on but then died?

im having a similar problem
