beginner question, CV boot torn
I tore the inner cv boot on passenger side today in my 91 civic si, b18 swapped. Not a huge deal, but I am wondering, it has a b18 swap, do I look up parts for the b18 or the original d16 motor on this one? I know, I should know this but I would rather not guess and i dont know ha ha! Then if money were no issue situation, is there a better cv boot out there, is there any enhancements, or things I should replace as long as I'm learning how to change this out? Basically I am just not Looking to cut corners or scimp and want to know what the veterans would do for performance/handling etc ha ha! Thanks!

it depends on what transmission and differential you have. but no, you cannot put the stock d series axles in. the trans are different. so, what tranny do you have?

It is the YS1 tranny, I didn't think i had to replace the entire axle if it is just a torn cv boot? I mean I am open to the best option, I just don't even know where to look for performance parts in this area. Can't find anything, thanks for helping out a noob!

sensibly you would have to use the boot from the YS1 tranny, not the L3 tranny. and if you get oem axles they should come with the CV joint and CV boot along with it.

Yeah I assumed but I would rather be right and save money ha ha! I wasn't sure about length, or if it was a custom axle made for the swap specifically, I did not do the swap nor have I ever so I'm in for a interesting trip with this car ha ha, there are a million things I am unsure about and trying to research, but that's what I'm here for.
So I have found the Hasport stage 0 custom axles for a 91 b series swap. Anyone use these or other non oem? Do they make a difference, are they worth it? Because they are a decent amount of cash for sure! Thanks.

If you can afford to have the car down for a couple of days I would just take the axle you have out and have it rebuilt by an axle/cv shop. They will replace the bearings, grease, boots, etc. and it is often cheaper than buying a new (reman'd) one. It also ensures it will fit properly. I have bought reman'd axles for a specific, non-swapped car and had them not fit. I shop near me charges $55 for a rebuild.

I think the plan is to just replace the boots for now and in about a month then get a set of hasport axles altogether. Has anyone used hasport axles on a b swapped ef? Just looking for feedback or reccomendations.

i agree...i would just get new axles all together. ive never used hasport axles. truthfully, i dont know if money is too big of a deal for you, but if your b18 is only tuned to factory specs, then oem axles will do just fine, and save you some bucks. the only time ive ever really seen the need for an aftermarket axle is when you are putting down a considerably higher amount of power, and need stronger ones.

The only reason I thought about hasports was for the future as my build progresses. I certainly hope I can hit at least 200 whp n/a eventually. So ill save my cash until I can afford something good, for when i replace the axles. Maybe there is a good deal to be had somewhere if I look long enough too. I apreciate lending a new guy some advice! Thanks.
