Why did you buy a complete distributor? Where did you get it? Was it new OEM, new aftermarket, used from a salvage yard, remanufactured . . . ? What did it come with? Coil, ignitor, cap and rotor?

Does the Check Engine light illuminate for two seconds and then shut off when you turn the key to position II ("on")? Has anyone been dickering with the engine wiring harness?

if you cant hear the fuel pump when you turn the key on two position then its your main relay located under the dashboard which also controls the ignition.

How have you actually checked for spark? Or did you just assume it's no spark?

I agree, do a spark test first to make sure you aren't getting spark.. if you got a new dizzy, then, you shouldn't be missing anything from rotor... did you just get a cap??..

. i've been through 2 dizzys on my teg.. very common..
