lugnut lock broke, what to do?
about 25% of the lock for my lugnuts inside the lock snapped off. it snapped taking off a wheel to get to the fender liner, 3 more wheels are locked on. what can i do? the locks came with the car, so i do not know where they were purchased or how to find out that information. i have a set of non-locking lugs i can put on for the time being.
i put the lock on another lug, thinking maybe it would take it off anyway? i hear cracking metal as i try to break it loose, and its not the sound of the lug turning against the rim.
any input? im sure this has happened to some of you before!

Although that does look like an OEM Honda key. I'd check with them first

I've had to drill a pilot hole in the middle of the lug nut, then used a good square punch/ez out. That worked for three, the fourth broke and i just drilled out the stud.

It looks like you could just go to a wheel shop if vise grips don't work....good luck

I've your home remedy if you have a welder. Lol Shops usually weld a standard lugnut to the lock-nut and just take it off that way. Pretty simple but you'll need to replace the lugnut.
Yeah, thats just an OEM key. Go to honda and have them remove it for you, as long as your cool about it they shouldn't charge you to do it. Then just throw those bitches in the trash and buy some non locking ones.
to get the locking lug off, what you can do is get a craftsman 19mm 12 point half inch drive socket, hammer it onto the locking nut. hammer the **** out of it, then hammer it some more. then try to twist it off.
i say craftsman socket cause theyre cheap and they dont give you any **** replacing them when they break.

well i searched youtube, saw a video of a ghetto idea, but i gave it a try.
hammered a 21mm socket on the lug, broke 2 off with a breaker bar. while hammering onto the last one, the socket split at 4 places. 13/16th socket worked there. + it wasnt my toolbox so yay for a $0.00 fix it! ;D

its only ghetto if you use sockets that arnt lifetime warranty. then its dumb.
i work at a tire shop, we see alot of these, and this is how i always do it.

as long as you took the lug nut out, how are they gonna know, most of the people who work at my sears are just stupid kids that dont know anything and dont ask any questions.
professional tool dealers like mac or snap on may say somthing, cause they want you to buy the specialty tool.
