The car won't even turn over. The radio works. I am assuming it's the starter but would like some other things to check for before i dive in and remove it and get it tested.

u can check if its the starter without taking it out have someone crank the car while u test the connector on the starter for power with a test light if power is present its bad. check connector for power not wire with nut. if power is present tap the starter wit a hammer and crank see if it starts if it does the starter was stuck and is bad

If all your accesories come on (ex. radio, dash lights, etc.) but when you attempt to crank they all shut off it could be a ground wire causing you trouble. check all of the engine ground wires to see that they are clean, not rusted, and installed tightly. If dirty; clean. If rusted; replace. If loose; tighten.

yeah it's the starter. I tapped the starter and now it works. I'm assuming it will break in the future. Any input?

I'd change it out just for piece of mind. Just think if your in traffic and your car would die, you be out of luck.

Replace it! The one day you are rushing for work is when the knocking method wouldn't work anymore...
