I have a 97 civic ex.

I cant get to the passenger door to lock with the keyless entry remote (OEM) or just manually pushing it, everytime i push it, it just springs back to unlock, could it really be a bad actuator even though i cant lock it manually either? i took off my door panel to see if something was maybe blocking it from locking but i could find anything, oh and when i lock the car with the power lock switch or the remote, i dont hear the passenger side even attempting to lock, which sounds like a bad actuator.

Any help is apprecciated.

 

I would think you will still be able to manually lock it if the actualator was broken. Make sure no one attempted to break in and messed up your lock.

 

take the door panels off and have a look. compare em to the other side to see differences and get back at us.

 

I have the exact same issue, was it resolved??

So, my question stands...was this issue ever resolved? What can cause the passenger side lock to be stuck in the unlocked position. (Will not lock manually with key or by inside lock mechanism, or by electric locks)

 

Sounds to me like the actuator is functioning. When I try to use the lock cylinder on the passenger exterior, it turns most of the way but not far enough to lock. When turning the key on the exterior, the internal lock indicator/switch does not budge. I think the linkage is bent/disconnected but I'll check it out tomorrow.
