Default Help! B Series; car shutting off

Recently I've noticed every once in a while my throttle will act up and either jump into high r's up and down or my car will die completely, it only happens when in gear... Also on the occasions it looks like its about to die, if I give it gas it will say it's at 2.5-3k rpm but the car is completely dead just coasting.. If I notice it happening then throw it in neutral wait a second and go back into gear it stops tweaking out for a little bit.. Motor is a b16a3 bottom end w/ a b16a2 head & p28 ecu.. I've been told it can be a tune problem, but wanted some second opinions before I go spend the $$

Might just get a retune and see if it helps.

Sounds like a fueling issue...how old is the fuel pump?

Not quite sure, I do know it was tuned kinda rich so it dumps a lot of fuel in general, especially when cold.

Wouldn't a bad dizzy throw a CEL?

edit- does anyone agree that it could be caused by a poor tune?

not all the time actually it seems rare that it does indeed throw a cel. if it was in the tune it shuld be consistent not some random jump
