Icon2 need help with suspension

I have a 99 civic lx with d16y7. no engine mod. currently, i'm running on neuspeed race springs, rear shocks are Koni while the fronts are still OEM. The reason for that is the front are still on back order and I might receive it before the month ends.

now my question is will my car ride better once I get the front shocks replaced with Koni? is it going to be a night and day difference? The Neuspeed Race rates are 485F/395R and i find it too stiff for DD. I hate it when I pass through freeway dips. it hurts my back after driving 30 mins in the freeway.

I am also planning on getting ground control coilovers for the konis. Should I wait and try out the neuspeed race and koni combo first before I decide to purchase GC? I am looking at 320f/280r spring rates for the GC. i plan to drop my car 2" and my car will be purely my DD, no tracks no nothing.

thanks in advance!

konis you will feel a diffrence. set it to how stiff or soft you want it. still going to be stiff but not boooouncny like the oem struts. more of a quick jab than a on going bounce, feels better and more aggresive.

The Konis will be a huge improvement over stock. But the Neuspeed race springs are a bit stiff for a daily. I think those GC rates would be good.

would i be able to drop the GC say 2 or 2.25" with that spring rate? i just want an aggressive look and won't be racing at all. thanks!

With the GC rates it will be a little harsh, but much better than the Neuspeed springs. Im using H&R sport which I think are 276/276 and its fairly comfy most of the time, but leaves something to be desired with body roll. Im going to switch to GC soon, Probably off the shelf rates, I think thats what youre getting?

well the lower the car, the higher rates you need to keep from bottoming. I wouldnt go lower than 2". Id get the GC then adjust it to the height you want, then if it bottoms out you can just get stiffer springs for them.

^^ yeah it's a lil softer than neuspeed so i hope the ride will be much better. no they are not off the shelf rates. i think the OTS rates are 380f/280r based on this forum:

btw, will the shocks not bottom out if GC spring rates are 320f/280r if lowered for 2.25"? i am thinking it won't since d16 engine is not that heavy compared to b16 but wanted to make sure.

You'll probably be okay. Konis will definitely control the Race springs better than the stock shocks. Like has already been said, it will feel harsh but shouldn't be as bouncy. And then the GC's should be a little more comfortable than the Race springs. If you had an Integra I would say you shouldn't have a problem with bottoming out with those spring rates, but I'm not sure how Civics compare. It should be fine.

Pretty much just what everyone else said.

thanks for the response Patrick! i really appreciate it. I'm hoping it will not bottom out since civic's front is lighter than GSR, i think it is.

you can contact GC and tell them how you're gonna drive it and what the roads are like around you, and the drop you're trying to achieve. i'm sure they'll recommend you a good rate that's comfortable and safe.

thanks episode, i'm still waiting for my front shocks to be delivered. i'll try the koni and neuspeed combo first, maybe for a lil while and if i still don't like how it rides in the freeways, then i'll contact GC.
