hey guys need help!! my mph on my cluster fluctuates when i down it to second. but when im crusing it and just let it climb it doesnt do that...well now its starting to do it when im just crusing it. can it be speed sensor going bad??? i never heard speed sensor going bad thats why??? or can it be my cluster??? please help would be greatly appreciated!!!

2. it could be your alternator going bad check the voltages asap and no its not your speed sens0r

 

well dizzy is kinda brand new yet..
alright will check alternator.... i didnt know alternator could affect it??

What year/trim/engine?

The dizzy would not cause the speedo to malfunction.

The alternator is one possibility. Take car to an auto parts store to have the alternator tested before you consider replacing it.

 

dont replace the alternator yet. take it out and go get it tested it should be free. that way you dont spend money on somthing you dont need

how long have you had the cluster in for?

 

^^^its been in there for while...i bought the hatch with the cluster in it...when i swapped the sohc to the lsv it was doing great and now all of a sudden it starts to act up!! just the mph everything else is jeezy!!

 

i don't know if this could cause it but the connection to the cluster may be bad, check to make sure the speedo clip is connected all the way. i think its the green one.

 

i did the same swap but just ls not lsv and it did it also. the ls speedo sensor was bad and i put in my d16 speedo sensor and it worked just fine try that. it might not be it but might save you a few bucks if it is =]

 

maybe i might look into that.... its pretty rare for the speed sensor to go bad i hear??
but after the alternator if it continues then i'll try the sensor after thanks!!

just changed speed sensor the needle is not moving!!! wtf?!! could it be alternator???!

 

did u install the speed sensor correct.. like did u push it all the way in and connect the plug back to it?? and did u ever get the alternator checkd???

 

yah bro speed sensor is in good snugged. and the alternator yah im prolly gonna do that tomarrow... could it be the alternator!?!

 

I had a similar problem, but on an unmodified car, the circuit board on the back of the speedometer was bad. I repaced with another used one now it works fine. GL

 

that whole mother board right in the back of the cluster?????!
