Default weird trans problem

i had the third gear tsb situation taken car of a while ago at howdy honda in austin, tx. as soon as i shifted from 1st to 2nd and then 3rd it felt weird, maybe because i wast used to not forcing third in, but second gear didnt feel like it was going in all the way.

anyway to make a long story short i was driving my 07 Si 4dr with 55xxx on the clock and then all of the sudden i couldnt shift into any of the bottom gears (2nd, 4th, 6th and R). the first time was shifting from 1st to second and it felt like mega slipping clutch and didnt do it in another gears. it first happened when i was shifting at about 6500rpm from 1st to 2nd gear and 2nd wouldnt engage until the rmps dropped to about 4000 rpms. now let me say this, when this first happened i pulled the shifter out of first and pulled it down in to second, and it felt like it went all the way in, but it didnt feel like it grabbed, ya know? weird i know.

so i was driving yesterday and then all of the sudden i couldnt shift into any of the lower gears. the shifter wouldnt even sit down there, it would just move back into the center. when i say i couldnt shift into the lower gears i dont mean that it grinned or anything like that, it just wouldnt engage.

anyone have any problems like this or ANYTHING like this happen to them?

since i cant drive it, honda is going to come pick it up tomorrow morning and start working on it. ill try to keep everyone updated.

ps.

when i went to pick it up after they preformed the fix for the tsb, the told me they had to take the tranny apart again before i could take it (made me wait an extra day) because they had a problem getting it into gear. they never told me what gear or why this happend, but when i did ask they told me they didnt see anything wrong and just put it back together and gave me my car back.

pps.

its only been about 600miles since the repairs have been done for the tsb

is there a short shifter installed on it? If the short shifter may have slipped down there would not be enough clearance for the shifter to go down into 2,4,6 or R. I had this happen to me when I was installing mine but then I tightened it up it was fine.

Hmmm...that was my suggestion too.

Sounds similar to a bad clutch, but being that it is only 600 miles after the TSB work, I'd guess the tech something together incorrectly.

ok so some news from honda. they said one of the shifter cables snapped and needs to be ordered and replaced. ive never heard of the cables snapping on our cars. i kinda thought that there wasnt a traditional shift linkage, so i had a suspicion that there might be something wrong with that. now, this part is apparently NOT covered by either the honda drive train warranty OR the "EXTENDED" warranty that i bought from Freeman Mazda in Dallas. (they are owned by the same people that own Rusty Wallace Honda in Dallas, where my Si was originally purchased from in 07) this kinda put me in a bad mood, but the honda dealership here in austin (howdy honda) said they are willing to replace the part at not charge to me, so instant good mood. oh, and they gave me a rental and all that jazz for NO CHARGE.

so i have a few questions about this situation.

1.why wouldnt this part be covered under the power train warranty by honda OR my bullshit so called extended "bumper to bumper" warranty?

2. since honda told me that it wasnt covered under their factory pt warranty, why are they covering it? i think the tech who did the tsb, effed something up and now has to take car of it.

3. has anyone even heard of a shifter cable breaking like that?

i will do my best to keep you updated, and all your responses are GREATLY appreciated!

oh and on a side note, i told them about the clutch pedal making that weird LOUD popping/clicking noise when i push in the clutch, also, not covered under the pt warranty...is this true or does the service writer just not want to get that fixed for me?

Is there another dealer within your area you could hit up for this service?

there are two other honda dealerships, one in round rock and one in san marcos, both of them about equal distance. but since the austin dealer is taking care of it already, im leaving it in their hands. besides i dont think either of the other dealerships would tow my car in for free. also theyre the ones that worked on it last time, so i think they might have over looked something and now theyre trying to make right.
