Default B20 guys, please step in

so i have an "ek" if you will, 1997 civic cx 5 spd. My friend has a b20z complete bottom end he will sell me. But i have a few questions about the swap in general.

-Will an ls head fit on the b20, as no head is provided, and most of the parts need to be from an ls anyway
-Car must remain obd2 due to ny inspection laws, so the ls ecu would be used correct
-If i use a vtec head would i be able to run a gsr or type-r ecu instead of a chipped p28/hondata to remain obd2
-Is this swap decently harder than an ls, it seems it but it might just be me

Thank you very much

Yes it will fit, direct bolt on with the b20 head gasket.

Yes you can run it on the LS ecu, buy a Apexi SAFC ( or VAFC just wont touch the vtec part ) and you will add fuel to the upper RPMs.

-If i use a vtec head would i be able to run a gsr or type-r ecu instead of a chipped p28/hondata to remain obd2.

This gets more complicated and a VAFC wont make it work as good as it should ( wich is tuned correctly for fuel and timming )

Same as LS, just source out the LS ecu with the SAFC/VAFC and the LS manifolds with the head you get and your set.

^^^Thank you so much for the reply, that really helps me out. Now the afc's mess with the timing, i had one on a turbo setup, i don't like that it advances it with no provisions to retard it again. One person recommended a fpr and upgraded fuel rail, opinions on that? and would i use an ls engine harness instead of the b20 as well.

now this week i have a choice i can get the b20z bottom end for $200. Or i can get a d16y8 vtec head, skunk 2 intake mani, comp stg2 cam for $250

Go for the b20, its not really worth going NA on a single cam and with those stage 2 cams your gonna have to get the car tuned

go with the b20z, you will be much much happier then with the d16. if you dont want vtec then get a pr8 head and slap it on the b20 block.
also, no you cannot use a integra harness they are 2 peice 96-00 are one.

No i wouldn't leave the d n/a, id have to turbo it again. But I'm really sick of that motor anyway, i just wanted to see what you guys thought. Well how its looking right now, i will put the ls head on it for the time being, maybe at the end of the season put a vtec head on
