Default 1998 Acura Integra GSR Questions

I just purchased a 1998 Acura GSR. The previous owner told me that a B18 ls motor was installed in the car. I just want to know if a B18 ls is vtec and its even possible to put one in this type of car. I am new to the tuner world but i have always loved the cars. Another Question is should i use full synthetic oil. There are pictures provided. I paid $6000 and it has a lot of mods, does any one think i t was a good deal?

Nice car, I love red integras. No yours does not have vtec if he put a ls motor in it. That kind of sucks he did that. ls rs gs and special editions have a b18b motor which is non vtec. Gsr and type R integras are b18c's and are the integras with vtec motors. You can easily swap a vtec motor into your chassis though. Its a direct bolt in as long as you have all the swap components including ecu, wire harness and motor. You do not need to run full synthetic but it definitely wouldn't hurt.

I paid $3000 for my 97 GSR that still has the original motor. Mine's not as shiny... but still. That sucks. You should have asked us about that motor BEFORE you bought the car.

I think $6000 is a fair price with the mods and the nice paint job

A 12-yr old GS-R with a non-VTEC engine? You got SCAMMED dude. Holy crap I would not have paid more than $4K for that. Are you sure it's actually a GS-R? Check to see if the VIN starts with JH4DC2 or JH4DC4. DC2 = GS-R, DC4 = LS/RS/GS.

You should have checked that car's history. Why does it have a non-VTEC engine in it? It could have been a theft recovery and possibly have a salvaged title. Post pics of the engine bay so we can be sure.

As to oil, I highly recommend Mobil1 synthetic 0w-30. I recently switched to that with over 270K miles on my GS-R's B18C1 VTEC engine, with 6K mile oil change intervals. It's good stuff.

yea but 6k for a na ls is still alot even if they painted the ebay lip to match and slapped some rotas on it. A paint job if you know the right people 300 bucks. the honda game is full of con men and if you dont know what you are doing you will drop fat cash on a ride woth 4k. ls motor vs gsr is night and day man thats why peopl pay more for them. the car is very clean ill give it that but the price you paid isss way to much bro do you have any bay shots?

yeah sorry for all the negativity man but the price should of been wayyy cheaper. 6k was how much my friend bought his 98 gsr too like urs but w/ the motor without the motor it should of been dropped to 4k like patrick said you need to check the vins and what not..*clean car though =]

-The car looks nice...but not having the original motor, rather a downgraded motor, depreciates the value.

-That's a damn good deal...and it still runs strong today, right?
