you're only suppose to tq them to the spec that is given, going over that is just stretching the bolt more.

I wouldn't torque them down that much, a friend of mine did the same on his all motor b20vtec setup and 1 week later on a 2nd gear pull around 9,200 rpms it threw a fresh eagle rod right through the block on the cylinder that he over-torqued.

why would you have to do the stretch method there eagle rods with arp bolts that come pre-stretched

You torque them to ARP's spec, not some arbitrary amount. If you actually stripped the 12 point bolt head you did something very, very wrong.

I just installed some arp 2000 rod bolts in my volvo motor, spec was 47ft-lb. Torqued them up, loosened, and re-torqued 4 times. I think this is just to make sure everything is mated correctly and to run in the threads in the rod a bit

EDIT: Saw your other post. Look like your boltsa ARP # 200-6207

Per their website the torque spec is 45ft-lb. So you definitely over torqued them. Whether or not 5 extra ft lb would damage them, I don't know...

extra 5lbs shouldn't hurt. if it was any more than 10 i would say do whatever you had to to get that bolt outta there

Does anyone find it odd that Eagle and Pauter call for 50 ft-lbs with motor oil but ARP 200-6207 and 200-6209 call for 55 ft-lbs with moly lube?

Over tightening them past the require spec will do two things. over stretch the botl causing it to lose quite a bit of its tinsel strength and will distort the big end of the rod mainly the cap and will eat a bearing in no time and throw that rod pretty quckly. There is a reason why the Eagle manufacture of the rod tells you what torque specs to use. Its not for the hell of it.

IM junk the rod and get a single replacement and do it right. I would also pull the rest and bring to machine shop and have them check they are still round.

so do these torque specs apply to all b series motors? I am doing a build myself and I'm hearing all sorts of torque specs.. eagle rods, arp 2000 rod bolts

I would use a cutting tool, and cut the top of the bolt enough so you can get a good grip with a crescent wrench, or use a left handed drill bit.
