CHECK YOUR OIL, when you get too low the motor wont go past 4k rpm. add/change oil. trust me, Ive been there done that.

What kind of shop did you take it to? If you have a check engine light on and take it to a shop they should automatically scan the computer. I'd take the car to a different shop and have them actually take the appropriate approach on your car. Your car doesn't have the V-TEC you are thinking of. Your V-TEC comes on very very low in the RPM band 2k to 3k rpm. Also, check your oil every time you fill up your gas tank.

I think they may have been referring to the VTEC solenoid, but that kicks in before 4,000RPM anyway.. so ..

What code is it throwing? Or is there more than one?

It's either your VTEC solonoid. or CAM POSITIONING SENSOR.
My car wont even engage VTEC because the CPS screws up the RPM'S & VTEC.!
90$ at autozone. go have them check your code. dont be lazy...!

cool. More than likely the CPS....Or VTEC solonoid. But its rare for the VTEC solonoid to go out enless you beat on it...or wiring issue
