help with instument cluster

Default help with instument cluster

my speedometer just stopped workin, everything was fine til today it just shat the bed everything else works but the speedometer.. anyone got any ideas, how can i tell if its a sensor or the cluster itself?

i saw something in another thread about if the cruise control worked then its not the sensor or something or other? and something else about a a fuse???

i checked and cruise control isnt working.. what should i do now?

no CEL? Could be VSS, although I woulda thought tacho would stop working as well

The tach doesn't operate off the VSS. If the odometer works, it is not the VSS. If speedo, odo, and cruise don't work, then it may be the VSS. Check the fuses. Check voltage to the VSS. If you have a wiring diagram, find a spot where you can back probe the VSS signal wire (I was able to do this at the lower left connector to the gauge clusted in my 93, behind the cruise control switch), check to see if you're getting a pulsing voltage when a wheel is rotated (jack one wheel up, rotate it by hand). If the VSS has voltage, but doesn't provide a signal, the VSS is bad.

if speedo and tach dont work and there is no CEL it is most likely NOT the VSS these cars have issues with a board internally in the cluster that must be repaired/replaced...one board could be the main cluster board but it is most likely the board attached to the back of the sppedo/odo unit itself

i realized the cruise control did work i wasnt going fast enough so i replaced the intrument cluster and it seems to be all good..

now i have a new light that i want to get rid of.,. the SRS light is starting to bug me.. the code reader i have doesnt read that.. i tried the FAQ and the thread aboutu clearing the SRS light no longer works http://www.ozaccord.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39

input on this would be aprreciated.. thanks for all the help and guiding me through everything
