I was wondering if there is a wire on the back of the oem cd player that I can cut so that it doesnt dim when the lights are on. Ive grown accustomed to driving with my lights on at all times but I cant see the radio during the day. Is there a wire I can cut like there is on the back of the clock so it doesnt dim? Thanks.

 

Yes, there is a dimmer wire. Couldnt tell you which one off hand, but if "the12volt.com" is still around they have all the wiring diagrams.

 

Yea, it says n/a on there under dimmer. Any tips?

 

I'm pretty sure there's a sticker on the OEM radio that details each pin.

 

Thats says for a new radio though, not the oem. Does the oem still have an orange?

 

There is no sticker on the oem radio and no orange wire either. Just checked. Any more tips?

 

Just checked and where it says the orange dimmer wire would be there is a red and black wire. If I were to cut this would it just kill the dimming or the illumination all together?

 

Well I just went ahead and cut the red and black wire and it did stop the radio from dimming when the lights are on. Unfortunately it looks like it killed all the backlight illumination as well so now I just have to figure out what is more important to me, the backlight illumination or driving with my lights on (its a habit). I can solder the wire back together easily.
