Default Vtec problem...and best spark plugs to use for bone stock ITR?

Hey guys,

Today was beautiful outside here so I started my R and put the first 10 kms on it in 2010... Only thing was I made sure to wait until fully warmed up to just give vtec a little kick, and it seems like it engages, the sound change is definitely there, like it sounds like it is kicking into the higher cam profile, but I don't feel the same kick when vtec engages that I remember. I only had my ITR for 2 months before I put it away and got a winter beater eg hatch with a d15b and the vtec kicks in pretty prominently in that and I remember my ITR being similar in the way in engages.

Has anyone else ever had this problem or could guess what it could be? Or am I just loosing my mind and the Vtec crossover is just THAT smooth that i don't notice a physical change when it engages and just hear the audible change?

Also I'm looking to change my spark plugs in a few weeks when the weather should be good for the rest of the season, do you guys recommend the best spark plugs to run with the model number? I would like to run NGK, so if anyone has the proper model number to look for that would be great!

Thanks for all your help with my noobie ITR questions guys!

I'm using NGK BKR7Es' w/o issue.

And VTEC does NOT = boost. On stock motors its more audible then tactile IMO.

Thank you very much PYITR678 for the input! I appreciate it!

I was just worried if I had a reason to be worried or if I was just being paranoid as per usual with the ITR after it being stored through winter.

Actually, if you go to the NGK website they suggest 7s for the ITR application (NGK BKR7E-11 to be exact). But my engine isn't stock. At 12.6:1 CR I should be running a colder plug anyway.

You know what it is? While your car was sitting for the winter, you anticipated soo much about driving it and how VTEC is going to hit soo hard, you over expected on what it can do. THen when you finally hit that VTEC, it wasn't what you thought it would or should be and you were dissappointed. You expected too much. There's a cure for that though. Go drive your beater around for another week or two and drive it hard pretending its such a fast car. Then after a few weeks go drive you R and VTEC it, but this time don't expect it to do much.

Ahhh so there is a viable cure to my syndrome. hahaha.

And the prescribed driving of the beater for a few more weeks is more than feasible since I am waiting on my RE11s to come in.

I also ended up looking on the NGK website to find the proper plug application, they must have updated since the last time I have been on there since I don't remember them having that before. Or maybe I just had a brain fart.

Anyways, thanks everyone for clearing my mind
