Default Fuel mileage questio (WAY too good)

I don't understand but I was coming back from Minneapolis through central Wisconsin and filled it up. I put 330 miles on it about 3/4 70 mph rest 60 mph.
Took it to the gas station today and it only took 5.544 gallons - that works out to 59.5 mpg. I was able to squeeze 7.53 in it before it started to dribble out, That works out to 43.8 mpg.

Now that can't be right, but gas came out so it wouldn't take anymore. Its never got those kind of numbers, but I can't figure it out.

I could see that. My little hatch gets me 40-43mpg consistently and I have got as much as 52mpg while commuting all highway. You must have caught the wind just right and all the stars lined up, but it is obviously possible. Good job! I always love seeing how much I can squeeze out of a tank.

Yeah, I can generally put another 2 gallons in after it stops on "full", it was right on 1/2 when I filled up (which explains why it stopped on 5.544 gallons) but 59 mpg, c'mon now.

I'm not complaining by any means, but it usually works out to 38-40 with cruise set @ 75 and low 40s when I am traveling on 2 lanes only going 60 mph. Maybe like 96hb said everything must have been lined up correctly.

It looks like I will be making this trip again this week on the same route, and will log each fill up and see what happens.

I used to get that kind of mileage (regularly) with my HX motor. I even got 62 MPG once (and I mean o-n-c-e). Mostly, I got 44-52 MPG.

I'm running a B16A2 Si motor now (in a HX shell) and still getting 40-ish (high 30's - low 40's). Not bad for a motor that's rated at 26 MPG (in a Si shell)! I can't seem to get past 42 MPG, no matter what I do, but hell, who cares? The extra 50 HP and sport gearing are worth it...

Anyway, sounds like your mileage is fairly normal.

BTW, one thing I might mention. If you're as **** as I am about measuring your mileage... ALWAYS use the same gas pump, at the same gas station. The angle that your ride is sitting at (when you fill your tank) makes a huge difference in how much gas you can get into your tank.

On my current ride (a 1998 shell) the best angle for completely filling the gas tank is with the frontend aimed slightly uphill and leaning towards the passenger side. I can get almost another gallon in it doing this, over having the car sit flat. My 2000 was just the opposite. It liked to be pointed slightly downhill with no side lean.

Regardless, use the same gas pump every time, and you won't see wild swings in mileage...

I daily drive my '94 civic 4dr - round trip 100mi./day with myself and 3 passengers I average 36mpg. It would be better but there are a couple big hills to climb.

It's all in how you drive and where you drive. In Charlotte, NC where I'm from I got about 38-41 city with pretty good driving and a handful of redlinings and stuff per tank. Now I'm in Miami, with the stop and go traffic and the necessity to drive like a jerk more often I only get about 28.

Driving through central wisconsin, you might have found 100% pure gasoling, containing no ethanol. There was a gas station on the Illinois State University campus that carried that stuff, and I always got kickass mileage on it. I miss my Freedom station.

The best I was able to get on my D15B7 was 40MPG...mostly highway miles. Usually it was about 35MPG with stop and go traffic. With my GSR swap, I'm get 32 with mostly highway miles. 26 if I get on it a lot. All figures are with the A/C on, btw.
