Default Brand new turbo setup - do I need to pre-oil it?

With a brand new turbo setup that I am installing...do I need to oil it before starting the car for the first time? If I do, how should I do it?

Thanks in advance

I allways pull the dizzy and crank it over about 5-6 times to get oil pressure. Then after letting the car idel check the oil.

Could you install the kit and leave the oil feed line off and pour some oil in the turbo and then hook the feed line back up and then start it?

No. you need to have actual oil "splaying" to cover the shaft entirely with oil. don't half-*** this.

Could you explain this a little more. What do I need to do to oil it properly prior to the first startup?

Hook up all your oil lines and such. Pull the plug off the dizzy and crank the car over for about 30 seconds. It will not fire up since the dizzy is un plugged. Basically what you're doing is building up pressure by turning the motor you will spray oil inside the turbo. If you do not do this you can hurt the bearings badly by not having the turbo oiled properly on first start up.

Might want to pull the injector fuse too so you don't wash down the cylinders with fuel in the process.

ill make it easy, just unplug the A plug on the ECU. then just spin it over if you must. I never prime anything. I just crank it all dry because by the time everything gets to a stable rpm its wet.

I just take the ecu fuse out.

Maybe the spark splugs too....it would make it a little easier on the battery cranking for 10-20 seconds.

On a cold motor, it took about 15-20 seconds to see oil coming out of the cam caps (on a b18b). This was just cranking off a spare battery....and your oil line should see pressure way before the cam caps.

took me over a full minute of cranking to get the oil running out of my feed line. what you can do in order to make 100% sure is pull the plugs, disconnect the ecu fuse, and pull the oil feed line off of the turbo. The engine will crank very fast with no plugs in it. Aim the oil feed line into a cup and crank it over until oil is spraying out of the line. This way, you will know for a fact that the oil is right there and there will be no delay in oil pressure through the turbo.
