Icon2 Good deal?

http://wenatchee.craigslist.org/cto/1643108946.html

What do you guys think? It a bit of a drive to go look at, but I want a black del sol, and want a small project car... Also, I think I would remove the bumper and go with a 96-97 front bumper, and then maybe get rid of those fenders for stock ones. For the price, I could also fix the windows and whatever else and still be sitting pretty. Any comments? thanks

Also, I'm a bit of a noob, so please limit the harsh comments

Edit: I just noticed that my topic title is not that specific... sorry mods If I could edit it I would lol

thanks for the reply, and yeah it looks to be in decent shape. From the pics it looks like the front end of the passenger door is a little damaged (based on how the light is reflecting on it), so I might even need a new door...

You like the fenders? hmmm we will see how I feel about them in person lol

whats the mileage on the body/motor? what was "modified" on the engine? do the options work? what are the "little details that need to be worked on"? does it have working a/c since the side windows dont roll down? recent inspection? good tires? service records?

without any of that info, id be scared to offer more than about 1000-1200.

Hey, thanks for the heads up! I will look into those as well. I figure if I can put only 500 into this thing, I will be around $2500 after tax for a decent car, which I think is a good deal lol. Of course this is all dependent on how much of these things need work...

any other things I should look at for the Del Sol? Anything Del Sol specific? Thanks again guys!

another thing to keep in the back of your mind when buying a used car (honda) is to be prepared to have little things pop up for a while, so some side $$ will be needed. it wouldnt hurt if you have the money to take the car on a test drive to honda and get a full diagnostic check for like $100, or take someone very knowledgeable about cars, specifically hondas, with you.

Hmm, the decision to spend $100 bucks just to see if its ok is a hard one to make lol. I know that it would provide some insurance, but at the same time if a bunch of crap is wrong with it then I am out $100... I will see if I can find someone to help me out lol. Also, I just sent the guy an email for the VIN so that I can run carfax on it. Thanks for the advise.

any more input?

test drive it more than once, or atleast make sure you drive in stop-n-go traffic, back roads, highway speeds, and check fluids before/after. if you are serious about giving someone over a $1500 cash they shouldnt mind even if it means riding with you.

Whenever I look at buying a car I ALWAYS test drive it, Honda or whatever... I just don't know much about Del Sols, so I will run through the basics for any car; look at fluids, check if radiator fan comes on, test drive, check brakes, ebrake, body, under-body for rust etc etc. I just don't know if there are "Del Sol" things to check for, targa seals maybe? lol

haha, so it looks like I will be heading over for the 2.5 hour drive to go see it. If I like it I will post up some pics and begin tearing it apart to see what lies under the skin lol. then again this is a BIG if lol.

If you guys can think of anything to look for in the meantime, I would REALLY appreciate it. Thanks again

I emailed the guy about the VIN so I can Carfax it. If its not clean I will probably just cancel and forget it... Still waiting on the reply.
