How Do I change a Dizzy on a d16y8 motor ?
Ok , So I took off my old distributor that was shot pretty much.Do you just have to match the 2 teeth into the slots in the motor ? Or wtf do you do ? ...
It should only go on one way. I don't know the technical term (too late & too drunk), but the "curved" part in the middle of that little "tab" part is only on one side (of the distributor where it goes into the slot of the cam). So there's no way to have it on 180 degrees off. You're also going to need a timing light, a paper clip or a small wire, and a service manual to correctly set the timing.

You could just put it on, but your ignition timing will be off. If your car is turbocharged, then that's not something you want to have adjusted wrong.
Be very careful when you're tightening down your dizzy and double check to make sure you have it in the right way. I thought I did and while I was tightening it down I hear a snap. Didn't pay any mind to it and then spent the following hour trying to figure out why my new swap wouldn't start.
This was the cause:

Luckily the key on a b16 dizzy and d16 dizzy are the same, so I just used the one from the d16 and the engine started right up. So yea just be careful.
