D16Y8 M&W Pro 10 HELP!!!!!!!!!
D16y8 OBD2B
8 Pin Distributor Connection
12* Base timing
P28 ECU
I am having a hard time adjusting the base timing after installing the T1 M&W PRO 10 kit. After completing the install, I warmed the car up and jumped the service connector and checked the base timing. It was almost firing at the white TDC mark on the pulley???? I have to advance the distributor all the way to get close to the red 12* mark.
I know for a fact previous to me installing the ignition the timing was dead on, ignition timing and engine.
Suggestions???? It just doesn't seem right that I have to fully advance the distributor.

Re: D16Y8 M&W Pro 10 HELP!!!!!!!!! (maddog20)
I guess what I am asking is.....is this normal to have to advance the distributor this far to get back to the correct base timing?

Since the ignition is being triggered directly by the ecu and not by the ignitor anymore, there may be a small change in ignition timing. Nothing to worry about though, just sync it up and you'll be good to go. Don't worry about where the distributor ends up.

sounds good
I figured it may have been a mistake on my part since I had to advance the distro so far.
Thanks for the kit very easy to install.
