Ground for under passenger seat amp in EK
Hey I'm trying to hookup my amp in my 97 ek hatch, amp is going to be placed underneath my passenger seat. Just wondering where would be a good ground for it? I was thinking the bolt that holds the passenger seat bracket down? Or is there a better spot
Just make sure you grind or sand down the part of the chassis that the bolt goes to to make sure you have good electrical contact between the bolt and the chassis.
you can use a seatbelt bolt or just drill into the floor, either way. If you drill, just make sure you seal it up around it to keep the water and rust at bay. as ^ just said, make sure you grind the paint off so its pure bare metal on metal. As a general rule, any piece of metal attached to something touching the body will work as a ground (so pretty much any metal you find in the car will work as a ground). If you question whether it will work, your trusty multimeter is your best bet
not any piece of metal attached to the body will work. It may be painted and the bolted down. run a short ground and if it is to the seat bolt sand paint down and mount it between the seat and floor.
yea, good point. if you have any doubt if it will work, the multimeter never lies
Any one of the seat bolts will work, do not drill a hole in the floor pan, [not a good idea and not needed].
If you do not want to use a seat bolt, drill a hole in the front seat mount "cross bar" and use a nut and bolt on it to ground the amp. 94
