Default DEI shock sensor

So in the manual it says to mount the shock sensor by either tape/velcro to a trim panel/air duct or zip tie to a wire harness. But I have my brain mounted under my seat and there really isn't anywhere like that to mount the sensor. So I was planning on mounting it to the floor under the carpet under the center console. Do I need to extend the wires to a reach a spot like described in the manual or would what I was wanting to do work okay?

It's my only sensor so I want it set up as good as possible.

Test it at that location first.. if need to move you can extend & hide the wires

Basically.. find the right location & the best performance for overall protection coverage of the vehicle
