Motor Mounts
I noticed this morning that we getting on the gas, i heard a thud. From reading these forums, and from my previous Passat, engine mounts are needed. The question that I have is on the 3.2 CL Type S, which mounts are needed and their locations. I have seen that there is one between the firewall and the engine and between the radiator and the engine. Is that all, in addition, should I replace the transmission mounts as well.
Thanks.
Thanks.
I have a set of series 1 innovative mounts and the street urethane has not held up. Granted they have changed designs and made the rear mount different, but I would still go with at least the 75a-80a urethane if you decide to get aftermarket mounts.
I have replaced a lot of the front motor mounts. Have a friend help with this open the hood look down at the front mount. Have ur helper put car in drive step on brake and snap the gas 1500-2000 rpm. You should be able to see which one is broken.
how often do you get on the throttle? cause you are going to bust up any mounts if you are contstantly jumping on the throttle. I have a 02 CLS and 92K with original mounths that are still in good shape.
btw is 99% to be the front mount if you are hearing it under hard accelleration......

5 mounts total on your car. Passenger side, front, rear, and two drivers side under the transmission. Your getting a thud when accelerating in drive, then your front and / or passenger side mounts are broken. Very comon, our shop does them every day but check them all.
