At our local track alot of guys run slicks on stock axles.
I hope your clutch can handle it when they hook up. Start running them with 20-25PSI and work your way down till you get the traction you are looking for. You want them to spin a little coming off the line so you don't bog the motor.

I think the size of the tire makes a lot of difference in the answer. If you are running a tire you can spin with 20 to 25 PSI (as the fellow above said) you should be OK. Put a set of 345/40s on it and something is going to break.
