Default New Radar Detector- Any Insight?

Was just given a radar detector, and have no idea how to use it since it didn't come with a manual or anything,

It says:

SWS
Laser
X K KA

Any explanation? I'm guessing SWS is the make but I'm not sure, I thought I read somewhere it stands for Security~ something..
The SN on the back is 1077460 if it helps.

thanks in advanced

SWS is just a type of signal to keep you aware of anything on the road you might need to know about (ambulances for instance), but is really just part of the K band, so no help there.

Does it say anything else on the back or underneath?

Nope nothing. What is the difference between X, K and KA? The only thing on the back is the serial number and a CAT number or something

Hm, well, I don't know what to tell you, but I've got nothing as far as IDing the unit

X, K, and Ka are different bands, or frequencies, that different radar guns use to track you. I attached a picture (I hope) to show you what I'm talking about a little more.

Alright so since mine uses superwide, it covers all of that?
Still no idea how to set it or use it really. Three buttons, power, city and mute

Yeah it should take care of all of that for you, plus laser (what cops use while they lay in wait behind those bushes)

And with only three buttons it shouldn't be too hard to screw around with and figure out, especially with power and mute being entirely self-explanatory.

Haha, I figured. I press city a few times and the screen says "C" "L" or "H". I just wish I could test it or something

edit: it's a cobra

Figured it out, found a manual closer enough to it. C is city and H is highway, it controls if the detector goes off on signal strength to prevent false alarms.
thanks anyway

Just keep in mind its a radar detector, and not a police detector. Obviously if he is not running radar, its not picking anything up. Also keep in mind that if you get hit with an instant-on shot, youre toast the second it picks it up. The only time a radar detector is really useful is if youre on a crowded road and someone infront/behind you gets shot first if its instant on (which is what many cops use).

I have a cobra thats about 4-5 years old. still works fairly well. nowhere as sensative as my belltronics detector, but not bad at all

Yeah of course, I see way too many people making the mistake of assuming it just detects cops and not realizing it's actually use. Thanks for the heads up anyway though
