Default ECU for Type R in CRX

Let's say I was to put an R motor in my crx. Instead of rewiring the car for OBDII or whatever, is it possible to just plug in the PR3 ecu I have and play it off as if the B18C5 is simply a souped up B16A?

I would probably need to reprogram the ecu somehow. Is it possible to reprogram it such that the engine runs just like stock? How/ who would I go to about doing this?

you can run a b16 ecu but i wouldnt
your best bet is to get your hands on a p28 and have it rechipped to ITR specs.

Then use your 88-91 harness, add the Vtec wires, and use the OBDO to OBDI ecu harness converter with the chipped P28.

Getting the R ecu would mean an unnecessarily PITA wiring job, from what I understand. As these people are saying, there's easier/ better ways at revving to 9k.

If I was to get the P28, would that result in no knock sensor (I thought I heard this somewhere)? The knock sensor seems important, especially on a motor like the R...

I did the wiring for OBDII and the ITR ECU, and it's a bitch to do. And if you have an immobilizer equipped ECU you will also have to get that removed. It is definitely less of a migraine to go with the chipped P28.
I think knock sensor is important, when I first started the motor, I had a honda ECU reader hooked on, and saw the knock sender stayed active for the next two tanks, about a half of tank of 89, then the next tank was 93, and on the 3rd tank, it finally went to normal specs.

chip your PR3 with the mugen program - it will bring it up to proper spec - tons of fuel, rev limiter removed, no knock sensor, no secondary 02 sensor.
use your B16 distributor.

you see guys, the simplest answer is usually the best one. why go thro the hassle of converting anything?

Wait a minute....
Is no knock sensor and no rev limiter that good of a thing?
