Default Need help from you F series guys

OK, got a F22B1 the other day that I know needs rebuilding. Break it down and got a little confused on what exactly is going on in this setup.
First, I can't identify the pistons. they seem to have an extra groove between the top two rings. Rods are Crower.
The real thing is the block was notched at the bottom of the cylinders. I'm guessing it is stroked, cause that is the only reason I can think of to do that. Can anyone identify this crank? Also had a rediculously thick headgasket with a turbo exhaust manifold. This motor came with roller rockers stock right? Also, I swear this thing is sleeved but in a way I am not familiar with. Did F series come with some type of lining that could be confusing me. If you look at the bottom of the cylinder in the pics you'll see what I am talking about. Sorry, first f series for me. Mostly a b series guy here. Any help you guys could give me would be appreciated. Here are some pics.

Really? nothing?

Took some measurements today and compared them to what I can find. Definately F22/H23 rods from Crower. Crank is 100mm stroke and 50mm journals. Everything I find on any 100mm stroked crank for sale say that internal modification is required for installation. I'm guessing that's why the block is done like that. Also found that they do have the iron sleeves factory. Pistons don't match any companies stock photos for the F22.

Yes, the motor came with iron sleeves, as did most Honda engines. Only a few motors didn't, such as the F20C, F22C, H22, and H23. Very few people here have highly-modded, NA, F-series motors, so I'm not surprised that no one was able to identify anything about that setup just off of pictures alone. You didn't exactly give us much info to work off of.

This is the first time I've seen someone use a 100mm stroke in a (single cam) F-series motor. Most people don't venture away from OEM Honda cranks, for which 97mm strokes are the longest they get...

You should also know that many, if not most, companies do not post actual photos for every product they have available. F22 parts have no where near the market share as H-series, B-series, K-series, or even D-series motors do. Often times they don't even list F-series parts on their websites, even though they carry/sell/stock the parts.

I know aluminum engines have sleeves in them, other than the ones you listed because they have the crappy(in my opinion) FRM lining. You forgot the C series in the NSX though. But I have yet to see any Honda engine with this thick of a sleeve in it. I guess I should have said that.

I realize that not all products have true stock photos available. I was just saying that I did all the research I could.

I realize most people don't stroke their motors. Thought maybe one person on here might have.

I guess I am just fishing for some real die hard F series gearhead.

I think I gave more info than most do when asking questions. I gave dimensions, pictures, explanations. Thanks anyways.

Just from the images I would hazard a guess that those are Wiseco pistons. Are there any markings on the underside of the crown?

What I was told was that the 100mm crank was a stock Honda crank that has been machined. Not sure what block it was out of though. They never told me that much info...lol I looked into getting a 100mm stroke crank for my build a few years back. I didn't bother because the cost wasn't worth the gain.

I hope I didn't come across as a ***** or condensending, as that was definitely not my intention. If I did, I apologize. However, looking back, I still don't see any dimensions listed aside from the crank in your second post.

Anyhow, good luck with your search and build.

You said those are stock f22 length rods? That combined with the 100mm crank throw may explain the thick head gasket and strange pistons. Where exactly did you get this?

Wild guess since you are from MS...

It's a pretty interesting find, I don't know of any 100mm f22b1s...
