Default 2000 accord - door won't open!

2000 Honda Accord Coupe

The drivers door will not open. I have used my keyless remote to unlock, I've manually tried to unlock. Tried opening the door from outside and inside. The handle seems to pull but nothing willl open. I've tried searching on google and some people say it's the acuator.

How do I get the door apart when it's closed??? I've heard It's possible but might need to take the seat out.

My passenger door works fine.

Thanks in advance!

There is a problem with the latch.

Here is a link for how a guy opened his Civic door when he had a similar problem. It should be a similar procedure for you. Take off all parts attached to the door panel first before you try pulling the panel.

I'm not sure how he's going to get that door panel off w/o being able to open the door? It's pretty much a MUST to have the door open in order to reach behind the panel as you go around and pull on each area that has the mounting spots.
Then you have to reach in and disconnect the cables for the power lock/window unit -- that in itself is difficult also.

I just had the same problem with my 2000 Accord 4 door. I spoke to a service guy at Turnersville Honda. This is how I fixed the problem.
Tilt the drivers seat all the way back.
Remove the two screws in the handle.
Rip the door panel out. (Yes, I said rip the panel off. There IS no other way)
Now for the fun part! Take a hammer and chisel and start chiseling the lock apart from the inside out. I used a Dremel to cut the plate then bent the plate down. Now continue to chisel the lock out. You are going to destroy the old lock. Eventually you will get to the cam mechanism that holds the lock engaged. Talk a long screwdriiver and jam it into the cam mechanism turning it until it releases. It is one pain in the a$$.

There is no other way.

Good luck, your going to need it.
