upgrading throttle body on sohc turbo? need your input!
hey im running a d16z6 turbo and want to know if its worth upgrading to a bigger throttle body? any suggestions or info on what size i should run would be great thank you!
here is a list of what is done to it.....
HEADWORK
ported and polished.
zex cam.
skunks valve springs.
30 dagree back cut valves
new oem honda valves
3 angle valve job
arp head studs
cometic head gasket
BLOCK
vitara pistons
stock rods
TURBO SETUP
skunk2 intake mani
turbonetics t3t4 57 trim turbo
walbro 255l fuel pump
rc 1000cc injectors (on e85)
cast greddy turbo mani
29x11x3 fmic
hks bov
tiel wg 13psi spring
full 3 inch exhuast
made 306whp so far
so what do you guys think blox, obx, b16, type r, blah blah blah and the size?

I'm doing good,doing some more upgrades here and there, you know the drill it never stops! Doing better intake and exhaust manifolds,finally some "real" wheels and maybe a respray of the car and then I think thats it for a bit. I've got the Austin Healey to finish putting back into one piece.

Waste of money. For example, I flowed a P30 (B16) manifold with and without a throttle body (used a stock B20). The manifold flowed 260 CFM at 28 inWa depression by itself and then 258 CFM with the "restrictive" stock B20 throttle body. So on a B16, adding an aftermarket throttle body is a waste of time. I suspect the sohc will exhibit similar behavior.
Many "seat of the pants" dynos confuse the quicker opening rate of the aftermarket throttle body with real power.
Have you noticed the your turbo will go to full boost without WOT? Mine will will hit 16 psi at about 1/2 to 2/3 WOT. Save your money for something else.

but the responce is way faster with it
example stock z6 with stock tb vs stock z6 with h22 throttle body (there s night and day difference)

well honda decided to go from 60mm tb to 62mm tb at only 200hp, since you can get throttle bodies so cheap and they are easy to change I'd just get a 68-70mm one and next time I was at the dyno I'd see how much it was worth. probably worth a few hp but worth the cost? hard to say
