So I am looking at tires for street/road racing and there aren't many selections for a 15" or 16" wheel. Plenty however for the 17". I've been reading that 17" don't go well with civics, well the EG version. I don't know if that applies to EK as well, or can I go bigger. I wanted to put 17x8 for a 235/40/17 but I don't know how that will fit with a good offset. How about 17x7/7x5 will that work better as far as handling. I have a fender roller ready to make adjustments if needed. So what wheel size do you recommend for my EK I would like to go 8" wide. Will a bigger diameter affect my handling as well? I am willing to go 15x8 or 16x8 but like I said barely any good tires. My car is will be lowered but I dont know how much yet. Maybe 1.5"-2".Also tire recommendations are welcome as well THANKS!

What is your aprox power out put ? hp and tq ?

15" will work great and is probably most commenly used wheel ( tires are cheaper also and can find more sizes than the 16" counterpart ) . But if you find a 16" wheel that you like and is not as heavy and desire to run a specific tire sidewall ratio and this permits it.

My recomendation would be stick to 15s, and if you want 15x8 or 15x9 go with 6UL wheels.

Had my hands on a set last year and sold them before installing. ( now i wish i never did) they were great quality finish, specially for the price

thanks. as of right now my hatch is stock but planning on swapping in a b18 or k20 once I got track experience and money. ive gone to 3 events so far. I got ksport coils and just trying to find a good wheel set up. thanks for the wheel suggestion will look into it

I wouldnt get too ahead of yourself, first get more driving time and then figure out the tire budget/specs you want. Then the wheels.

But atleast sounds like yo uare headed the right way.

Just for reference, I have 15x7 fronts and 15x6.5 rears on cheap tires ( as I dont have experience for Rs just yet , after a few more events ill swap to some 888 or mor elikely RS2 etc street tire as im poooor )

 

for 15x6.5 what offset shud i use +35 or 42

 

Go with a 15" wheel.....something strong and light

tire size 195/50/15

 

If you go with mazda spec size of 205/50/15 you get a lot of options in tire compound
