broke the intake cam cap bolt :(
i have a b18b and i broke the bolt of the intake cam cap next to the cam gear and i was wondering how bad on the engine would it be to run it with only one in it?

I've done this before. Ditto for header studs, water pump bolts, etc.
I used an EZ-Out to remove it. It ain't rocket science, but be forwarned, you don't want to break one of those trying to remove the broken bolt - now that's a f**kin' mess. Carefully read the instructions prior to attempting it.
Otherwise, have the car towed to a qualified shop and ask them to do it for you.
Lesson learned: always better to replace fasteners than to risk reusing older ones.

You could dremel a slot in the broken bolt piece and try to back it out w/ a regular screwdriver (if there's room). Just don't get grit all in your engine.
Try the ez-out first even if you break the ez-out you can dremel it. Also dremelling the broken piece flat and center punching it will help drill accurate for the ez-out.
$75 for a inch-lb torque wrench is a great investment.

my question for u is did it brake at the cap or in the head? if its jux at the cap, why not remove the other bolt and pull the cap off and with how ever much stud is still sticking out, use a vise grip and turn it back out, but if broken in I'd try an extractor and try to get it out that way. I wouldn't try to drive it with it broken like that tho.
sometimes since the head of the bolt kinda has a washer built on the head of the bolt it wont snap down in the head far and u can unscrew it from the head with a screwdriver or extractor. goodluck
it broke below the head and im going to try the ez-out thing tomorrow and if that doesnt work then im going to be pissed
if the bolt broke above the head i would have used vise-grips to get it out but it didnt

You need some type of a jig to enable you to drill into the center of the hole. Maybe a piece of tube can be fabricated to use with your cam cap. Fear my paint skillzz.
Did the same thing on my b16 head took it to a machine shop 2 hours and $27 later but they left a bunch of metal shavings in my head
so beware of that all said and done Id just take it to a shop

If you can get a hold of a welder and you have somewhat expereince, you can weld a screw to the broken stud and unbolt it. Make sure you cover everything around your head except the side that your going to be welding.
Just becareful when your welding, try not to get in contact with your head.
It works wonderfully!
