89 Civic Hatch Outer Tie Rod Replacement
Hello,
Was looking for a guide for Tie Rod replacement on a 89
civic hatchback. Couldn't find anything in the FAQ just
wondering if anyone knew of where to find one.
Thanks,
GO HONDA

Okay, so I "got in there".
Now my only problem is getting this lock nut off... I've tried WD40 and still no luck... Is there any tricks to getting this one off? Kind of cramped quarters in the wheel well.

Turn the wheel so you get better access to the tie rod you're replacing. It may take an impact gun to remove the nut if its rusted and put some heat on it as well.
I use a Vice-Grip 4LW on tie rod lock nuts, at least when first breaking them loose. It has jaws that will firmly hold but not mar the nut faces. When reinstalling just use the correct size wrench. Some of them can be pretty stuck, so be prepared to put your foot on it, and firmly use your whole body weight. WD-40 sucks as a penetrating oil, IMHO. Get some Liquid Wrench, or Kroil, or any other -real- penetrating oil.
Good luck! It'll come loose.
