pretty simple. take the cotter pin off. loosen the 17mm nut. take a 3lb sledge hammer, no less, and pound the end of the knuckle around the balljoint.
it will pop off.
dont even think about hitting the threads of the balljoint up. hitting the knuckle will vibrate it off.

do what he said. but break your jam nut loose first before you pop the tie rod out of the knuckle. it'll be a bitch to break loose if already out. and remember to get your car aligned afterwards

I think he mean's removing them and installing new ones,
You take a wrench and hit it to the right first then go to the left.
this should remove the nut around tie rod, then pop the tie rod out of the knuckle and just spin the tie off to the left. don't try to count how many times you spin it as it won't be aligned right. There used to be a DIY on google on how to align your own civic with a tape measurer and string and it'll only off to .0003.
