The GSR, ITR and CTR use the same block. Honestly, if you have a 94 or 95 GSR block, that's the best. It has an oil cooler, which 96 and up don't have.

If you look at the front of the block, right above the oil pan, on 96 and newer blocks, there will be a green VIN plate. If it's missing, it's a 94 or 95. Or when you change your oil, if there's a silver can thing between the block and oil filter, it's a 94 or 95. It's not worth swapping the blocks out for that, but given the choice, it's a little better.

you basically have a type r block.

you have ITR pistons already...b18c1 uses the same rod/stroke as the b18c5

nope itr are stamped p73. I'm not sure about ctr. Yea no moint of getting a itr block. Both are 81mm and if you got p73 pistons then your good to go. I'd rather build the head. port/polish and cams and valve train.

btw I heard if you put a ls you will get higher compression a bit. Not sure thought....help me out on this on guys if so

An LS crank will up compression about 1/5 point. The changed geometry is going to affect it more than the compression. And as for the displacement, it's only like 2% difference also.

It's late, I am having issues typing. People need to do more reading on this stuff before asking questions. People aren't going to spoon feed answers for everything. Someone has to do some thinking and figure things out.

Wrong, sorry man, no such thing. BTW, i have owned five B18C5 engines, how about you?

It is the Intake manifold that is stamped P73 from the outside of the engine

He definitely speaks the truth. if you can find a 94 or 95 gsr go for it! You're definitely choosing the right blocks though. Stock block girdle and great rod to stroke ratio ftw.

I know 100% that the pistons are stamped p73. so instead of the p72 that is stamped on the gsr's, what is stamped on the c5 motors?

We are talking about the damn BLOCK!!!! The blocks are stamped P72!!!!

Yes, a Integra Type R has it's own pistons, rods, crank, ect...thats what makes it a type R, but the BLOCK is the SAME....get it???!!

Do i have to out to the garage to take a pic?

My JDM ITR block is stamped P72 on the back. I know everything else is stamped P73 but I think Honda just made it easier all together over there both GSR and ITR have B18C and both have P72 so they just make 1 block and change internals, head, and other things... atleast I hope because that means I have a motor to inspect if ITR are stamped P73

I never said anything about the stamping of the rods on a ITR. I understand they are are stronger, but have not confirmed that.

My earlier posts were regarding the engine block cast and stamping

Here's what i could find on rod stamping

honda-tech at its best lol

ok ok sheesh calm down here. maybe your right cuz my buddy always said they are stamped p73. then by looking at a b18c5 with a black valve cover and no headers or IM, how can you tell its type-r(without looking at the b18c5 stamp)?

btw I see ppl mentioning b18c. As much as I read b18c is jdm gsr and b18c5 is type-r cuz ppl say that b18c is jdm type-r
