do connecting rods have a specific order
i'm in the process of overhauling my ls motor and was wondering if the connecting rods have a specific order in which cylinder bank they go in, I know the arrow has to point to the front of the motor just want to know if the rods are interchangeable within each bore. Is it the same with pistons as well?
Unless you have a rod that has same colored bearings, it needs to stay matched to that rod journal
New pistons wouldnt matter, but i think it would be wise to put each slug back in their home. Unless each piston has worn exactly the same amount in exactly the same areas (unlikely). You could measure them to know for sure though.
Things wear into each other and although it may not be absolutely necessary, I would still try and do it if its not too late.

Good point. If you want to just replace the bearings with the same color that came out then it matters. If you are sizing your bearings per the FSM and then double checking with plastigauge, then it really doesn't matter.
