Viper alarm dies on me
after driving to the Import Revolution show yesterday my viper seems to have died. i parked the car in the lot and turn the car off. the led stayed on and the armed chrip didnt sound. the power locks work but it doesnt arm. anyone have this problem?
yeah it sounds like your alarm is in valet (keyless entry function) only mode... I'm not sure how the new viper alarms are or what model you have.. but I recall (on the 4 button remote models) that if you press channel buttons I, then II, then I it goes in and out of valet mode... or you can also turn the ignition to ON and press the valet button (maybe its hidden by the pedals and you accidentally kicked it on)..
if you have a newer model than what my friend had or you have the ghost switch Viper/DEI alarms then I don;t know..
but from what your describing it sounds like its just in valet mode.. get your manual and see how to get out of it if the above instructions don't work/don't make sense... my friends was a mid to later 90's model.. I think it was 550ESP or sumthing...

Hey do you guys know whats wrong with my python (same as viper) because when I arm my alarm and the door locks, it keeps locking the door over and over and over when its already locked. Its so annoying. When I get in the car, it locks in 3 seconds (my g/f wanted that) but it locks and locks again, I have to unlock the door for it to stop. ITS SO ANNOYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!
The problem is not in your alarm it is something with your door lock actuator. I have seen lots and lots of hondas have this problem especially the accords. As far as taking the alarm outta valet mode, you have to open a door, push the lock button, then unlock and then lock again. Or you can put the key in the ignition turn it to the on position then take the key out and push the valet button.

Thanks though, that really helped!

turns out it was in valet mode, i finally found a capable viper installer that knew their ****. whats the clear box with a led that lights when u tap it? im guessing shock sensor but it must be disconnect cuz u could jump on the hood and it doesnt go off. i dont have the manuel cuz i bought the car used and it came with the car
the clear box w/ the LED's is probably your DEI/Viper Double Stinger guard Shock sensor.. if when you tape it the LED's go on that means its connected (has power) and when it blinks/becomes illuminated that means its detecting shock... as to why it doesn't set off/trigger your alarm.. I don't know.. but when the LED lights up when you or someone else gives impact to the car that means the sensor detected it... depending on your car alarm model.. there should either be a small turn dial (to adjust sensitivity) or you might be able to remotely adjust the sensitivity (depending on your alarm model)....
if you know the model number of your alarm (ie 550 ESP, 800 ESP, etc) you can go to vipers website and click on guides/manuals and click on your model number and look at/print out the manuals

place ur mouse over "guides" then click on "owners guides" and select your model #
